Lion Brand Stitch Soap Scrub Yarn: A Review
Lion Brand Stitch Soap Scrub is a very plastic-y type yarn. It appears to be plastic wire that is chained together, almost like a crochet chain. The Lion Brand Yarn Company is a family owned business out of Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Lion Brand yarns have been in the market since 1878 making it the oldest producer of yarn in the U.S. And Lion Brand yarns are available online and in many stores. Learn more.

Lion Brand Stitch Soap Scrub Full Review
Lion Brand Stitch Soap Scrub Yarn is available in 19 solid colorways. This yarn is so plastic. Most of the scrubby yarns are a plastic material, like nylon, polyester, etc. But this yarn FEELS like plastic. It looks like plastic wires that have been crocheted in a chain. The end result is a very stretchy, wiry, plastic-y yarn.
Of all the scrubby yarns that I knit with, this is my least favorite. Keeping your tension even is difficult and takes considerable attention. Even though I felt like I was doing pretty good, when I finished my knit object I was sad to see large holes. And clumping of “fibers”.
And it also twists. I’m not sure what makes the yarn get so twisty while knitting with it. This isn’t something I experience with regular yarn. But it curls and twists and that can get tangled into knots.
My husband saw me struggling with knitting and said, “Why are you even knitting with it? Just use it in the clump it’s in.” Ha!
Unfortunately, the yarn is so lightweight and being chained plastic makes it quite thin looking. It’s not a “thin” yarn, it’s a weight four yarn. But it looks thin. When you’re done knitting and weaving in those ends, be aware your ends will stick out like an eye sore. No one is going to wonder where you wove that end in. It will be obvious.

Final thoughts on Lion Brand Stitch Soap Scrub
If you are wanting to make a scrubby that looks like one you can buy in a store, maybe knitting with larger needles would help? The “fibers” do remind me of those body scrubbys you can buy at the store that are all bright colors and to use with the body soap. I would NOT use this yarn on my body. While it looks like those “loofahs”, it is much scrubbier.
And there you have it! If you have any questions about this yarn or have a pattern to use with it? Let me know in the comments!
