Jubilee Scrubby Dish Yarn Review

Jubilee Scrubby Dish Yarn is a rubbery textured yarn. The scrubby fringe comes off a plied center and is made of the same material as the plies itself. Jubilee Yarn says it is the “best kept secret in yarn.” They are a premium online wholesaler and yarn retailer out of Bloomington, MN, USA. You can find their yarns at Bamboomn. Learn more.

Jubilee Scrubby Dish Yarn Review

Jubilee Yarn’s scrubby dish yarn is easy to knit with yarn. Though each skein is relatively small, only 50 grams and 43 yds, you are required to purchase 4 skeins at a time. And the price is really reasonable for that. Plus they come with color palettes so you can choose 4 skeins of somewhat analogous colors. Love that!

I have some texture issues, so just looking at this yarn made me on edge. I was surprised to find that it felt soft and easy to knit with. Though when it’s all together you can tell it’s quite rubbery. This yarn does provide a nice scrubbing surface for those times when you need a little oomph. But it definitely is not for those tough cleaning jobs.

When knitting, it’s important to count the stitches so you don’t skip a wrap. Unfortunately, I did this and only noticed when working the 10 stitches including wraps. The yarn does not make “reading your knitting” easy, but that is to be expected with novelty yarns.

Another thing I noticed was when weaving in ends, the yarn did seem to pull a part from itself. That can happen with any plied yarn, and in fact may make this fabric better with use. Surprisingly only a small amount of yarn barf occurred and it did not tangle easily! When the yarn barf came out, I was super anxious. But then it was no big thing. I just continued to knit and it untangled itself.

Overall I was very pleased with knitting this yarn and would use it again.

  1. I was disappointed. I never knit dishcloths with polyester. My dishcloths are always all cotton or cotton/linen. Polyester is basically plastic. I do not want to spread microplastics around the rivers, lakes, streams, and ocean.

    1. I totally understand. I typically only use cotton for my dishcloths and towels as well. Thankfully there are plenty of wonderful cotton yarns out there!
